Guide to Build Your Own Rustic Dining Table
By Daniel Desmond
Rustic dining table can invoke impression of an old world farm house or feeling of a colonial kitchen. The ease of making the table with
a classic and simple design only adds to the table appeal. Almost everyone can put this table together with a little woodworking skills and finish the project over a weekend.
Here are 6 steps of how to build a
rustic dining table.
Step 1
You
need to arrange four support frame boards into a square and then nail the boards together. For adding extra security, wood glue can be used along the joint.
Step 2
The next is placing a leg of
rustic dining table inside on corner of the square frame and then using three nails to nail the leg to the frame on each of the two sides of the leg. You need to keep the top edge of the table leg with the top of the frame. You can keep things in place without much shifting by working with the table upside-down.
Step 3
Attach the other three legs of rustic dining table to the frame and let any wood glue drying before flipping the frame over. Make sure to leave the first six inches square and round the rest of the length if
you want to have the legs of rustic dining table turned.
Step 4
Turn the rustic dining table frame and legs right side up. At this point,
you need to check for how level the table is and then sand down any table legs which are making the table wobbly.
Step 5
Lay the four boards across the table top and space evenly about 1/4 inches apart. Across the width of the table, nail 2 nails in each board into the frame boards below.
Step 6
Sand the table edges and top smooth and apply any sealant or stain as desired.
