Maintenance for Leather Couch
By Daniel Desmond
Getting the
leather couch be put inside our home adds the comfortable mood in the interior design of a place to live. Moreover, with its quality the
leather couch is also giving beauty to the home. Though it gives beauty and comfort, you will need to maintain their qualities that are worth to be given to the couch. The basic thing that you can do is cleaning it. However, there are some considerations that you need to have while cleaning
this precious furniture of yours. The first thing that you need t do is to pay attention on the instruction manual from the manufacturer when you bought it.
Using the instruction manual is important since one couch might need different treatment than the others. However, if you cannot find the instruction manual for your
leather couch, you can still have the standard treatment that will protect and improve the quality of your couch. For example, you can keep the dust off the chair that can contribute bacteria and oils that will damage the leather. It is better if you dust the leather couch once a day. If you cannot do it once a day, at minimum you must do it at least once a week.
After that, you need to know whether your leather couch has been protected from liquids or not.
This is important especially if you want to clean the leather couch by using liquids.
Some types of leather are non-finished and therefore it is porous which means that cleaning it by using liquids can damage the leather couch. No matter what
type of finish that your leather couch possesses, it is recommended that you use water cautiously when cleaning it. The next step that you need to do is treat the small dirty spots.
In removing the dirty spots on the leather couch you can use the soft art gum eraser. By using this item you do not have to wet the couch which is vital for the couch that is not resistant towards water.
However, if
the leather couch is water resistant, for really dirty ones you can apply water. But then the eraser can be used for the finishing especially in removing the minor dirty spots. For the water resistant couch, you can use mild soap occasionally by rubbing it in a bucket of room temperature water. Using the hot water will only bond the soap and the leather so that you will find it difficult to wash clean.
