How to Care Your Cast Aluminum Furniture

The words to describe cast aluminum furniture are functional, durable and beautiful. Cast aluminum is one of the most popular types used in patio furniture and can be formed into any shape. Beautiful insects, forest animals, floral motifs or other shapes can be formed into cast aluminum furniture.
Cast aluminum furniture is durable, beautiful, can withstand winter and summer conditions, and also heavy enough to withstand wind that topple over other patio furniture. The furniture will not rust since it is made of aluminum. As you may already know, very cheap pieces of aluminum furniture may break or rust due to inferior aluminum materials.
Most of high quality cast aluminum furniture is powder coated. Powder coating is a technique that applying dry paint to a part which is then put in an oven. To form a continuous film, the powder particles melt and coalesce.
Based on usage, the pieces of cast aluminum furniture need to be cleaned during the year. Cleaning it 1 to 2 times in single year is enough. You can use mild detergent soap and water to clean it. Do not use a sandpaper, brush or abrasive cleaner because this will remove the paint.
You can use a small artist's brush for small nicks to transfer the paint from the plate to the piece of furniture. After the paint becomes tacky, you can use a dry brush to enhance the texture. For deep scratches or chipped paint all the way down to the metal, you can use fine grain silicon sand to texture the surface of cast aluminum furniture after applying the first coat of paint. Apply the silicon sand to the wet paint. After the first coat has dried, recoat the surface again. You need to remember that use light coat of paint is better than one heavy coat.
